Development towards a customer-oriented foundry

1982 in a time of more and more specialised development in the fields of technics and economy – 1982 the computer is proclaimed as the “machine of the year” in the USA – the company Esterer AG was again at a turning point: raised quality demands on the market and services provided with castings made it necessary to disintegrate the foundry part on an organisational and legal level from the joint stock company Esterer AG. Esterer Gießerei GmbH. as a limited liability company developed as a one hundred percentage subsidiary company of the stock company and became an advanced and high-performing customer-oriented foundry.

In 1991, thus one year after the Reunification of Germany, the foundry in Wurzen in the state of Saxony joined the group under the name “Esterer Gießerei Werk Wurzen GmbH”. With this step we were able to broaden our service portfolio and position ourselves in the foundry-sector as a system supplier with high technological competence and deep insight into creating added value.

In 2007 the Esterer AG stock company and the foundries were facing severe changes. The management of the joint stock company came to the decision to sell the subsidy company Esterer WD GmbH, which produced similar to the beginnings machineries for sawmills, to the company Gebr. Linck Maschinenfabrik Gatterlinck GmbH & Co KG.

Shortly after that also the two foundries in Altötting and Wurzen were put on the market to be sold and they were taken over via a management-buy-out by the Holding Topol GmbH, which was at that time going under the name Lato GmbH. Today the two managing partners Hans and Patrick Topol are in charge of the operational business of both foundries and also on the level of the company partners, where they are supported by the share of the company Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, in short BayBG.

Under the auspices of the Topol GmbH the two plants work under the names Esterer Gießerei GmbH in the town of Altötting and Esterer Gießerei Werk Wurzen GmbH in the town of Wurzen and position themselves as highly-specialised customer-oriented foundries with the guiding principle: “We cast originals.”
