Low-temperature cast steel
Low-temperature steels are characterised by their toughness at low temperatures and are forming a kind of anti-group against thermal-resistant steels as regards to thermal stresses.
Parts made of low-temperature cast steel consist according to specifications of un-alloyed and alloyed heat treatable steel and also of austenitic steel. Alloy elements, mostly nickel and also chromium, molybdenum, shift the operating range of low-temperature steels within temperature ranges of below minus 200 degrees Celsius.
According to this parts made of low-temperature steel castings are used in cooling techniques, space technology, transport technology, in high-performance generators and in the chemical and petro-chemical industry.
